"Nederlands M 1852 sabel voor officieren der Schutterijen" / Dutch Home Guard officer's sword M 1852. Excellent bright finished fullered blade. Some fine stains on both of the ricasso's only. Intact red felt washer. German makers trademark: Knight helmet and Kings head over W.K.& Co (= Weyersberg & Kirschbaum - Solingen) on the ricasso. Blade is marked with the Dutch proof mark: YZERHOUWER in a scroll.
Beautiful detachable M 1852 Berlin-Silver grip with cast Berlin silver pommel and a one piece black horn grip with twisted silver wire winding. Berlin-Silver hand guard with side bar. Crossguard with forward swept guillon.
Excellent Berlin-Silver scabbard with two loose hanging rings and a single dent only.
Total length 95 cm. Width at the ricasso 2,7 cm.
The concept for this Dutch M 1852 model was doubtless the Russian M 1826 Infantry officers sword!
This Home Guard officers model differs from the M 1852 infantry officers sword in its finish only. The hilt of the M 1852 Home Guard model is always in Berlin-Silver, the Infantry model is finished in brass.
A very nice and early M 1852 Home guard officers sword in an Excellent condition. The Dutch Home Guard was dissolved in 1901.This example must have been made before 1888, the year the second ring officially was removed.
