"Nederlands infanterie officiers degen M1820 "van algemeen model" / Dutch Infantry Officers spadroon M1820. Excellent long straight bright finished single edged blade with very thin etched floral motives and military trofees on both sides . The blade shows light stains only, but no pitting. This blade was never finished in Gild and Blue. German makers trade mark: Crown over a Z in a shield. (= H. & W. Lang-Solingen. 1840-1860. After 1860 the Z in a shield trademark was taken over by Clemen & Jung of Solingen). and very very faint marked Dutch retailers name: G-----tte ( = C. Gravelotte, the Hague 1815-1852) on the one side and its residence: in 's HAGE on the reverse side. Beautiful brass handle with urn shaped pommel and folding hand guard with quillon with round crown shaped final. Excellent silver colour round wooden grip. Working folding clam shell crossguard.
Excellent++ black tooled leather scabbard with brass mounts. Top mount with a round frog stud. All stitches intact and no dents to the brass fittings.
Total length: 98 cm. Width at the ricasso 2.4 cm.
Excellent early Dutch M 1820 infantry officers spadroon with a Dutch retailers name. The sword was made before 1860.
