"Nederlands Mariniers officiers sabel M 1854"./ Dutch Marine officers sword. M 1854. Excellent bright finished long curved fullered blade. A very rare German makers trademark: A rabbit head (= Friedrick Poetter of Solingen. 1850-1860) crisp on the ricasso, partly covered by the crossguard /washer. Intact leather washer. Beautiful detachable gilt brass hilt with a single knuckle bow. One piece dark brown horn grip with an intact twisted brass wire winding.
Excellent ++ Berlin- silver scabbard with no dents and two loose hanging rings.
Comes with its correct and genuine M 1854 Marine silver colored sable knot with an orange core.
Beautiful very early example!. Total length 90,5 mm. Width at the ricasso: 2,7 cm.
Introduced in 1854. This sword model is still in use at the Dutch Marine Corps. Its carried by all Marine officers and senior NCO's
