Nederlands M 1819 No.2 Infanterie manschapssabel. / Dutch M 1819 No.2 Infantry troopers short sword. Excellent bright finished plain blade. Excellent+ one piece cast brass hilt with a steel pin in the ribbed grip. Crossguard is dated in large digits: 1832. Single hand guard and a short guillon with an achorn shaped finial. Back of the grip is marked: 1730 over a crossed out 314. Hand guard is marked with a Dutch inspection marking: 23.
No scabbard.
The M 1819 No. 2 infantry short sword was a Dutch produced edged weapon with clear influence of the French M 1801 briquet.
A Dutch M 1819 short sword can be identified by the steel pin in the grip.
