The concept for this Dutch M 1852 model was doubtless the Russian M 1826 Infantry officers sword!
This Home Guard officers model differs from the M 1852 infantry officers sword in its finish only. The hilt of the M 1852 Home Guard model is always in Berlin-Silver, the Infantry model is finished in brass.
The Dutch Home Guard was dissolved in 1901. This example must have been made in the first year of its introduction 1852, the year C. Gravelotte stopt his business.
