Mauser M98 rifle and carbine. NCO bayonet- Sawback removed. No serial number. Excellent bright fullered blade with sawback removed, leaving only the inspection marking on the blade spine. German maker's name; GOTTLIEB HAMMESFAHR, SOLINGEN-FOCHE and Piramide trademark with crossmark on ricasso in three lines. No date nor cypher on the blade spine. Excellent bright pommel with TO slot and crossguard. German inspection marking on pommel. Very nice wooden grips with blued flash guard and oil hole.
It comes with its very good steel WWI scabbard with a crossed out unit marking: 8. R. R. 10. 76. ( = 8th Reserve Leib-Grenadier-Regiment König Friedrich Wilhelm III, 10th Battalion, rifle nr. 76.(1e Brandenburgisches ) Home base: Frankfurt. ) with a small dents near the tip only.
