Mauser M71 rifle/Mauser M71/84 rifle / Werder M1869 Rifle. Excellent bright finished fullered blade with some light user spurs only. German makers name and residence: E. WILHELM - SUHL faint on the ricasso. Blade spine is crisp Prussian marked and dated: Crown over W over 74 over a Crown over A German inspection marking. Excellent brass grip with external spring. Excellent bright finished steel crossguard with quillon and muzzle ring. MRD 17,4 mm. Crossguard is unit marked: 116. R. R. I. 182 (= 116th. Reserve Infanterie Regiment Kaiser Wilhelm ( 2. Groβherzoglich Hessisches.) Home base Gieβen, First Battalion, , Waffe 182) There is a very crisp German inspection marking on the crossguard facing the blade.
Excellent black leather scabbard with brass fittings. No serieus dents to the marked fittings and all stitches intact. Top mount is unit marked: 3 R. A. F. 10. 191 (= Third Niedersachsisches Reserve Foot Artillery Regiment -Bataillon, Home base Straβurg. Nr. 10, Waffe 191 ) There is another crossed out unit marking on the frog stud.
Hard to find Imperial M 1871 Infantry bayonet, complete with its leather scabbard.
