German (Bavarian) M 1871/84 bayonet, first model. Privately purchased. Bavarian unit marked. (ABCN416-2)(K0)(JN0)
Mauser M 1871 cal. 11 mm and Mauser M1871-84 rifle. Excellent bright finished blade with a short fuller (= First model). No makers name or date. Excellent+ wooden grips secured to the blade with steel rivets. Hilt with a humb back. Crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 17.5 mm. Excellent bright polished crossguard and pommel with a T-slot and a functional catch. Left side of the crossguard shows a crisp Bavarian Regimental marking: B. 1. J. 4. 13. (= First Bavarian Infantry Regiment, 4th. Battalion, rifle number 13. )
Excellent+ stiff black leather scabbard with clear tooling, intact stitches and chromium plated fittings without dents. There is a very little flaking to the chromium plated fitting only, but certainly not very serieus. Throat is marked: Crown over R next to 11 and the top mount is also marked Crown over R near the staple.
Bavarian M 1871-84 privately purchased bayonets are rare, but this well made fixable model, with a Bavarian Unit marking, is quite rare.
