German M 1898 Mauser carbine. No serial number. Superb long bright finished fullered blade with 42 sharp dents in the blade spine. Ricasso bears crisp German makers name: SAMSONWERK. Blade spine with Gothic inspection marking. Bright finished large rounded pommel with T-O slot. Pommel shows another Gothic inspection mark. Excellent bright finished crossguard with no muzzle ring. Excellent wooden grips with oil hole are riveted to the blade tang.
Rare variation with a flash guard!
Excellent and correct war time green painted over black painted steel scabbard, it has a ball final and no dents. Frog stud with Gothic inspection mark.
Comes with its Excellent dark brown leather frog with a removed retaining strap as found.
