"Nederlands Sappeurssabel M 1805. "Dutch Sappers and Miners M 1805 short sword. Very heavy curved plain blade. The blade is stained, but there is no pitting. Excellent massive brass hilt marked with date 1819 and serial number in large digits 3290. Hilt is fixed to the blade is by three large brass rivets, Crossguard with two quillions swept forward and backwards. Single brass lanquet on the front side. Forward swept quillon with achorn final is marked 115. Backward swept quillon has a ball final.
The scabbard is a very well made  REPRODUCTION. It fits the sword perfect but firm. It comes with a genuine Dutch M 1850 troopers sword knot.  



This is a very rare and impressive Dutch sappers and miners short sword. It was in use from 1805 till 1855. In 1820 there was a modified second model. This 1819 marked example is the first model.
Genuine item (NOT the scabbard) and very hard to find!
