Nederlands lichte cavalerie sabel, Model No.2, M 1813 / Dutch Light cavalry troopers sword M 1813, Model No.2. Excellent curved fullered heavy blade. Intact leather washer. Steel hilt with hand guard and 2 side bars and steel pommel. Side bar is marked Crown over V. Crossguard with langets on both sides. Excellent wooden grip covered with black horse leather.
Excellent all steel scabbard with two loose hanging rings marked 567 and C over 36 crossed out. No dents.
Length of the sword 103 cm. Width at the ricasso 3,4 cm. Weight, including scabbard: Ca. 2 Kg.!
A very heavy and rare Dutch Napoleonic time frame sword in an Excellent++ condition. A very hard to find Dutch Waterloo battle field piece used by the Dutch Cavalry and mounted Artillery !
Later is was used during the Belgian conflict in 1830.
This sword once belonged to the collection of the The Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It was sold in an international auction in 2020.
This particular one is one of the best we have ever seen!
