English No. 4 MKII* skeletonised socket bayonet for the L59A1 Drill Purpose rifle. ( Ref: Book- The Spirit of the Pike by Graham Priest)
L59A1 skeletonised Drill Purpose rifle. Skeletonised No.4 MkII* bayonet. Excellent++ cut open blued socket with a bright finished round blade. A rectangular opening is machined in the socked to show the plunger catch. An additional hole was drilled in the shank to expose the plunger spring. All cut edged were paint red. The revere side of the socked shows a broad arrow.
These bayonets were made by Howard & Bullough Ltd. Their trade mark in an oval is hard to read on the shank facing the blade
Only 3.588 skeleton rifles and bayonets were produced for demonstration purpose from 1949 - 1954
