Nederlands Officiers sabel van de Lichte Cavalerie (LC) M 1813. Engels model. / Dutch Light Cavalry (LC) Officers sword. M 1813, English Pattern. Beautiful highly curved bright & blue finished fullered and beautiful deeply etched in blue blade. The blade etching shows floral motives, military trophies, harnasses, guns etc. Different motives on both sides of the blade, Etched blade spine. The Dutch retailers name: J. F. SEGERS te Breda crisp on the blade spine. The right ricasso, covered by the languet, shows the trademark of the German maker: Z in a shield (= H. &. W. Lang- Solingen 1840-1860. Later, this trademark was taken over by Clemen & Jung 1860- )The left blade side is marked in a scroll with a Dutch quality proof mark in the Frence language : acier fondu coupart le fer. (=Steel that cuts iron).
Excellent bright finished steel hilt with a stirrup hand guard and a forward swept quillon. Excellent+ ribbed wooden grip covered with black leather and an intact double twisted silver wire winding. Crossguard with languets on both sides. Back of the hilt with "ears", fixed to the hilt by a steel pin.
Excellent bright polished steel scabbard with two loose hanging rings showing some age and some fine peppering only, but no serieus dents to the scabbard.
Total length: 89 cm. Width at the ricasso: 3 cm.
This is a beautiful Dutch Light Cavalry officers version of the famous Napoleonic era "Blucher type"sword.
This example dates back to 1840.
