Dutch infantry officers sword M 1897. (JP 92-155)

"Nederlands Infanterie Officierssabel M 1897"/ Dutch infantry officers sword M 1897. Excellent + bright finished straight quilback blade. Leather washer intact. No makers mark. The blade is etched with the Dutch retailers name in a scroll, but it is not readable anymore. The reverse side is with the Dutch quality proof mark: YZERHOUWER in a scroll. Excellent+ bright polished steel pierced hand guard with 5 bars, engraved with flower motives.  Detachable hilt with a ribbed brown composition grip. This example never had a wire winding! 
Excellent bright polished steel scabbard with one loose hanging ring. No serieus dents to the scabbard.
Comes with its genuine Dutch M 1855 infantry officers sword knot as found.  Acorn shape with plated steel stem and crown. Acorn head made out of multiple rows of bullion wire. Orange core and a black cord. 
Made before 1914.
Total length: 97,5 cm. Width at the ricasso 2,7 cm.

This sword was adopted in 1897 and was already replaced in 1912 by a complete different model: M 1912 infantry officers sword. It still has a ceremonial function for officers of the Dutch Guard Fuselier Regiment Princes Irene. A Dutch infantry Guard Regiment, founded in England during WWII and active during and after D-day for the liberation of occupied Europe.
