Indonesian made Dutch M 1911 type cutlass (Klewang) by PinDat Bandoeng (P.B.). (Ref: Book Klewang J.P. Puipe. Cat.78 Page 198)

"Indonesisch (P.B.) gemaakte Nederlandse Marechaussee klewang type : M 1911 No.1.  / Indonesian made (P.B.) Dutch M 1911 No.1 Marechaussee klewang/cutlass type" Serial number: 285. Excellent blackened klewang blade, (hand-made by grinding down an old leaf-spring from an automobile!) with a clip point. Indonesian makers mark: A hammer over an anvil with the letters P.B. being surrounded by a halo. (= PinDat Bandoeng =  Pabrik Industri Angkatan Darat = Industrial Factory of the Army - Bandoeng) on the ricasso. Wide open, blackened hand guard basket, manually sawn from a 1 mm. sheet steel plate. The guard is riveted to the pommel. Knuckle guard with three side bars. A unit number: MBSm over a serial number No. 285 on the inside of the guard. Excellent M 1911 wooden scales fixed to the blade tang by three brass rivets. 
Excellent- M 1898 type tooled flexible dark brown leather scabbard. All stitches intact. Long M 1931 thick brass chape, fixed by two brass staples on each side to the leather body and two drain holes drilled near the tip. Scabbard throat is reinforced by a brass clip pinned to the leather throat. Leather body is unit marked: MBSm over No. 305 underneath the Intact leather frog strap. Same unit, different serial number.

These Indonesian Dutch M 1911 type Marechaussee klewangs were well made hand-made and supposed to be produced between 1946 - 1949 in Bandoeng- Indonesia  for the T.N.I.(= Tentara National Indonesia = Indonesian national Army)
