Dutch M 1815 Infantry Field and General officers spadroon. (Ref. ARMAMENTARIA No. 16. Page 99.

"Nederlands Infanterie Hoofd Officiers degen M1815 " / Dutch infantry Field & General officers spadroon M1815. Excellent- long straight and  fullered single edged bright heavy blade with fuller running to the tip. A very faint etching on both sides of the graying blade with no makers name. Red felt washer intact.
Beautiful and very large detachable brass hilt with a large decorated urn shaped pommel and a single hand guard. Two non-folding shells on the ricasso and a large straight quillon with a fine decorated final. Perfect round wooden grip covered by a fine twained silver wire winding. 

Total length: 102 cm. Width at the ricasso: 2,6 cm. Length of the hilt: 17,5 cm.
No (black leather) scabbard.

This exclusive spadroon model of Russian design was made by P. D. Lüneschloss - Solingen and it is proofed to be carried by famous Dutch Infantry General officers like Luitenant-General Seelig, Chief of the Artillery in the Citadel of Antwerp, Bernhard, Grand Duke of Saksen-Weimar and Luitenant-General Dibbetz, Commander of the Maastricht Fortress in the campaign during the Belgium Revolution of 1831. It is a quite rare model and seldom found. (Please see the attached old drawing and information as a reference. It is taken from the booklet: ARMAMENTARA No. 16. Page 99. According to the Dutch National War museum, this is a M 1815 Infantry Field & General officers spadroon, but it is believed to be not introduced in 1815, but earlier. It was used till 1840 only.
This model looks somewhat close to the German IOD M 1819 spadroon, but the dimensions of this sword are much bigger and heavier. Almost unique Dutch high ranked officers spadroon. Very hard to find!
