US M1855 Caliber .58 Springfield percussion rifle. REPLICA Very good+ impressive heavy bright finished fullered blade with an upward near the point. Model with rounded fullers. A few spots with light peppering on the left of the blade only. No markings to the ricasso. Excellent one piece cast brass hilt and crossguard with a muzzle ring and quillon, both with finials and secured to the tang by a smal steel rivet. MRD 22,5 mm. Grip with 17 ribs and a blued external spring fixed to the hilt by a steel screw.
We never had a US M 1855 in our collection and can not compare, but we believe this bayonet is a very well made old REPLICA. Hence the price.
No scabbard.
