German M 1884/98 bayonet, Commercial model, WWII by Alex Coppel-Solingen. (ABCN461-1)(K0)(JN0)

Mauser K98. Rack number: 3090 on the ricasso. Excellent fullered blued blade with German makers makers trade mark: AWC over scales on the ricasso (= Alexander Coppel- Solingen). No date!. Excellent blued pommel and crossguard. Excellent+ flash gard. No German WaA Waffenambt markings on the pommel. Excellent wooden grips, secured to the tang by two screw bolts.
Excellent blued (matching) maker marked steel scabbard:  Coppel GmbH over 1940 (= Alexander Coppel 1940) serial number: 391 over 1. No dents to the scabbard.

Commercial made German M 84/98 bayonets were issued to the Police and/or to Para-military organisations.

Dr. Alexander Coppel, a Jewish industrialist from Solingen, Germany, was persecuted by the Nazi regime, forced to sell his company, ALCOSO, and was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in July 1942. He died on August 4, 1942, shortly after arrival, likely from hunger and exhaustion due to inhumane conditions
