Chilian modified French M 1874 Gras bayonet by Henry-Entrepreneur. (ABCN1513-1)(K947)(JN28-1)

Chilian used French M 1885 Kropatchek rifle or a German Mauser M 1895 rifle. Serial number: C 16 on the crossguard. Excellent+ T back blade with French maker's names: Manufacture de Chatellerault,  and  Henry Entrepreneur crisp on the blade spine. Two French inspection markings: H in circle and S in a circle on the ricasso. Excellent modified hilt with wooden grips and excellent brass pommel. Crossguard with hooked guillon and modified muzzle ring, MRD: 16 mm.  Excellent and correct blued scabbard with a serial number 24437 with some user spurs only, but no serieus dents.
These rare Chilian modified French M 1874 Gras bayonets were used by Chili and many were later converted to Police side arms.

This French M 1874 gras bayonet was made by the entrepreneur Francois Louis Henry and produced for commercial sale at Chatellerault.
The company only made a very small number of M 1874 Gras bayonets between 1879 and 1888. later this example was modified by Chili and used on a different rifle.

Note: The French state arms factories were actually run by private contractors (entrepreneurs) appointed by the government. With their own funds, the entrepreneur purchased the materials for producing goods and paid the workers. The government purchased the contracted-for goods at cost plus 20 percent. If there were parts and materials left over after contracts were fulfilled, the entrepreneur could produce additional pieces for private sale.
Commercial examples are marked on the blade spine with the maker and place of production, but no date.
