"Nederlands Gemeentepolitie Officiers sabel M 1961 " / Dutch Municipal Police Chief Officer's sword M 1961. Excellent bright finished sligthly curved fullered blade. Dutch retailers name and residence on the ricasso: J.W. HOUFER- SLIEDRECHT. Intact leather washer. :"English style" blued detachable Berlin-silver hilt and an open hand guard with two side bars. The rural police emblem, showing the book of law and a short sword over a six point star surrounded by a laurel wrath is implemented in the hand guard. There is a short forward swept quillon with a round finial. The hilt has a straight grip, is covered with ray skin and has an intact double twisted silver wire winding. Pommel with a nut.
Excellent bright polished steel scabbard with two blued Berlin-silver bands with loose hanging rings and a blued drag. No dents to the scabbard.

This is an extremely rare ceremonial Municipal Police Chief Officer's sword. These were designed by the Dutch military designer J. F. H. Th. (Frans) Smits in 1961, and produced in a very limited number by E. & F. HÖRSTER in Solingen and WKC only.
