Dutch Beaumont M 1873 Navy rifle. cal. 11 mm. Serial number: 6673 on the right and left crossguard. Excellent bright finished fullered yatagan blade. German makers trademark: P. D. L. in an oval ( = Paul D. Luneschloss - Solingen) on the ricasso and a Dutch inspector mark: Crown over CF on the reverse side. The blade edge shows on both sides two very small patches of peppering/light pitting only. Excellent brass hilt with a long 72 mm blued spring secured by a large screw. The contours of the filled hole of the first spring screw are still visible. Excellent bright finished crossguard with a fast forward swept quillon showing the serial nujmber and another Dutch inspection mark : Crown over CF. Muzzle ring MRD 17,5 mm.
Excellent and correct bright finished steel steel scabbard with no dents and no serial number.
Only 5.400 Dutch Beaumont Navy rifles and bayonets were made by P. STEVENS in MAASTRICHT, Netherlands and by P. D. Luneschloss in Germany. This is the first model converted to a second model by replacing the short external spring by a long spring.
