Belgian Douane (Customs) Thouvenin carbine. Cal. 17,5 mm. Serial number: 47 in the mortise slot. Very good- bright finished very long fullered straight blade. The blade is stained and shows very fine pitting all over, but mainly on the right side. Ricasso shows date: 1866. Blade spine is marked: LD. Beautiful brass ribbed grip with a large pommel. Pommel has a shorter mortise than the M 1848 Jaeger model. External leave spring. Pommel is twice marked: Crown over GD in a trilob and a Rampant lion over H.
Steel crossguard with a straight short quillon and a very large muzzle ring: MRD 21 mm.
Very rare bayonet!
