Belgian M 1924/49 bayonet export for Venezuela and Indonesia(ABCN872-3-5)(K278)(JN241-3)

Belgian SAFN M1949 rifle 7 mm. Export for Venezuela. Serial number: 4421 on pommel. Minty straight long fullered bright finished blade. Excellent bright finished pommel with T-O slot and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 18. mm. (The standard Belgium FN Mauser M 1924 export bayonet has a MRD of 15.5 mm.)
Excellent wooden grips secured to the blade tang by screw bolts. Excellent + darkened scabbard with German style frog stud and no dents.
It comes with its scarce and excellent green webbing belt frog as found with a retaining strap and an US belt hook.

Venezuela found the Belgium M 1949 bayonet too short and ordered a longer bayonet for their SAFN automatic rifle in 1950.  FN made only 8.000  M 1924/49 bayonets for Venezuela in 1949-51. This is serial number: 4421
Total length: 512 mm. Blade length : 387 mm.

The same bayonet was also exported to Indonesia. There was an Army contract in 1952-53 for 16.000 rifles and bayonets and a Navy contract in 1961 for 100 more.
It is not known to us if these bayonets had serial numbers.

Quite a scarce bayonet in a near MINT condition!
