Dutch Naval officers sword M 1882 by WKC. (JP 99-170)
Nederlands marine officierssabel M 1882 "Sabel luitenant ter zee" / Dutch M 1882 naval officers sword. Minty and beautiful bright finished heavy pipe back blade, etched in panels on both sides and on the blade spine. The panels have different motives. One panel shows a Man O'war and a fouled anchor under a crown and the other panel shows a steamer and a fouled anchor under a crown.
Etched blade is marked with the Dutch quality marking: YZERHOUWER and the German makers trademark: Knight helmet over WKC over SOLINGEN over GERMANY on the ricasso ( = Weyersberg-Kirschbaum & Co.-Solingen). Intact white leather washer. Gilt lion head hilt, the gilt hand guard pierced with a fouled anchor under a Royal crown and floral motives. Excellent ribbed white composite grip with an intact brass wire winding.
Excellent gilt mounted steel scabbard, covered with tooled black leather, in a minty condition. No dents to the body and its gilt fittings.
Comes with its near MINT genuine Naval officers sword knot as found.
Total length: 97,5 cm. Width at the ricasso 2.7 cm.
This model was introduced in 1882 and is still carried by all Dutch Naval senior NCO's and officers ranks.
