German Mauser M 1898 Rifle and Carbine. M 98/05. Ersatz bayonet. Excellent bright finished fullered crudely made blade. Model with a narrow short fuller. (Ref. Anthony Carter: AC43) Crown over a Gothic inspection marking crisp on the blade spine.
Excellent fieldgray painted two part all steel hilt with a ribbed grip. Bright finished grossguard and a short forward swept quillon. A single diameter open muzzle ring. German inspection mark T-O slot in pommel.
Excellent- fieldgray over black painted pressed steel ersatz scabbard with a pressed top mount and nice tooling, thus imitating a leather scabbard. A small dent only to the rounded tip of the scabbard.
