English M 1907 bayonet by CHAPMAN. (ABCN1027-1)(K318)(JN57-3)
British Lee Enfield (SMLE) No.7 rifle. Second pattern. Excellent+ bright finished fullered blade. The ricasso is marked with the scarcer English makers name: CHAPMAN and Crown- GR- 1907 - dated: 1 '11 . There are more issue dates: '28,'30, '31 and '32. 4 Enfield inspection marks, /I\ and a bend mark X and another issue date;'19 on the reverse side of ricasso. Excellent blackened pommel and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 16.5 mm. Oil hole in pommel. Excellent+ walnut wooden grips secured to the blade tang by screw bolts. Left grip is stamped: K.
Excellent black leather MKII scabbard. Blued mounts. Top mount with a round frog stud. All stitches intact and no dents to the metal fittings.
The British maker J.A. CHAPMAN, Woodside La. Sheffield is a scarcer and early maker of the M 1907 bayonet. The total production was c. 300.000 bayonets.
