Dutch M4 1951 bayonet, First model (ABC N 129-1)(K 31)(JN)
US M1 Carbine, First type bayonet. No serial number as usual. Excellent parkerized US M4 blade with some light user spurs only. Excellent parkerized pommel and crossguard with step in the muzzle ring. MRD 15 mm. Crossguard is crisp marked with a German makers logo: H in a circle (= E. & F. Hörster- Solingen). Excellent ribbed reddish brown two piece plastic grip secured to the tang by two brass rivets. (=First Model!) Correct wood grain plastic scabbard with a canvas belt, retaining strap and belt hook.
Very well made bayonet, made by Hörster, Germany in 1951.
The first type differs from the second type only by the securing of the grips by brass rivets and not by brass screw bolts. Many first type bayonet were refurbished by replacing the rivets by screw bolts.
Very nice example.
