US.30-06 M1903 Springfield. Serial number: US over 429519 on ricasso. Minty very dark parkerized fullered Long blade with US maker's trademark: SA (= Springfield Arsenal.) over Flaming bomb over date: 1909 very crisp on the ricasso. Minty parkerized pommel and crossguard. MRD 15,5 mm. Excellent ribbed walnut wooden grip, faint markedon the right grip: NZ /I\ D over 2271.
Excellent olive drab fiberglass M3 scabbard with US belt hook made by Beckwith Manufacturing Company of Dover, New Hamspshire. marked BN on the steel belt hook. The steel top mount marked: U.S. in a flaming bomb.
Rare New Zealand marked M 1905 US bayonet. According to Ian Skennerton in its book: British and Commonwealth Bayonets on page 363- N5. These bayonets were issued during WWII in small numbers, together with M 1903 Springfield rifles, on a Land Lease arrangement to the Home Guard an Police
