Swiss M 1864 Sharpshooter bayonet by F. HORSTER - Solingen. (ABCN1544-1)(K 954)(JN 183-3)
Swiss M 1864 Carbine Kal. 10.4 mm and Milbank-Amsler transformation. No serial number. Excellent+ bright finished fullered yataghan blade with the rare German makers name in two lines on the ricasso: F. HÖRSTER - SOLINGEN. Some dings to the blade edge only. Excellent brass pommel with a T-slot and a 4.6 cm. long mortise slot. Bright finished steel crossguard with a muzzle ring; MRD 18.5 mm. with a cock comb and a backwards swept quillon. Cock comb with unusual fastener screw!
Unique external locking pivoting spring system, with a steel press stud in the middle of the grip. Excellent checkered black leather grips with very light wear spurs only, riveted with 5 small rivets to the blade tang.
Excellent black leather scabbard with brass fittings. Frog loop with leather tab. All stitches intact. No dents to the fittings.
Comes with its unique Excellent black leather frog for the Sharpshooter bayonet with an opening for the frog loop on the front. There is a faint Swiss makers name on the reverse side.
Extremely rare bayonet! It was made from 1864 till 1871 in a very small number. F. HÖRSTER is a rare maker for this model as most are made by WEYERSBERG - KIRSCHBAUM
