Dutch Municipal Constabulary klewang (Cutlass) No.1. Very good bright finished fullered klewang blade with German makers trademark: Sitting Squirel over C.E. in a circle. (= Carl Eickhorn - Solingen. This trademark was used used in 1920 only) on the ricasso. The blade shows light user spurs and a single small spot of very light pitting only on both sides near the tip of the blade. Intact red felt washer. Excellent chromium plated steel hilt made with a single hand guard. Excellent ribbed blackened M 1905 (No.1) type wooden grip ( 8 ribs). Spit in the top of the hand guard for a sword knot.
Excellent tooled black leather scabbard with all stitches intact and plated fittings. Some dents to the chape only. One loose hanging ring and a round frog stud.
Total length: 76,5 cm. Width at the ricasso: 3,5 cm.
Not an altered Police officers klewang, No.1 klewang, but a scarce municipal police klewang variation. It closely resembled the Dutch Marechaussee h.t.l. sword. ( See page 220, Fig 123. book: Klewang by J. P. Puype. )
