"Nederlands M 1843 Marine adjudant-onderofficierssabel/ Machinistensabel "/ "Dutch Naval warrant officers sword M 1843" Superb bright finished sligthy curved pipe back blade. Blade is marked with a Dutch retailers name and his residence: Frans Pauwels, Hofleverancier te 's Gravenhage (= Frans Pauwels, Supplier of the Court at The Hague.) in a scroll on one side. Yzerhouwer in a scroll on the reverse side. Intact black leather washer. Detachable gilt hilt. The gilt hand guard is pierced with a large simple fouled anchor. Excellent black ribbed ebony grip. (This example never had a silver wire winding.)
Excellent brass mounted black tooled leather scabbard with two brass loose hanging rings and styled top mount and chape. Leather body shows user spurs only, but the tooling is excellent, all stitches are intact and there are no dents to the fittings.
It comes with its genuine old style Dutch naval warrant officers sword knot as found, with a brownish black cord and very fine bouillons in a intense worn condition.
This model was introduced around 1845.
