French MAS 49-56 rifle. No serial number. Minty phosforized long plain blade with long false edge. Black plastic grips fixed to the blade tang by two small spanner bolts. Release catch in hilt. Press stud in blade tang. Muzzle rings on both sides of the grip. MRD 22 mm. Total length 344 mm. Ricasso is marked E-RM.
Grey phosforized metal scabbard with the contours of the long false edge of the blade. Green leather integral frog fixed with four large brass rivets to the scabbard body. Frog with US belt hook and retaining strap. Scabbard is marked E-RM (=Establisment Regional du Materiel)
Only 40.000 M 1956 MAS long bladed bayonets were ever made. E-RM is a scarce maker.
Longer blade with longer false edge then FAMAS bayonet.
