French M 1902/1912 Indochina rifle bayonet (ABCN1409-3)(K860)(JN0)
Mannlicher Berthier M 1902 Indochinois rifle. Serial number F 95548 on quillon. Excellent shortened bright cruciform blade marked with a B in a diamant shape marking. Excellent silver alloy grip with mortise slot and press stud to the left side of the top of the pommel and a long concave groove on the left side of the grip. Pommel with D inspection marking Bright crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 13 mm. and forward swept quillon is marked with two crisp P's in an circle. Excellent blued and correct Lebel type scabbard with serial number M 22441. No dents and a pinned final (See: ABCN 1409-3).
Comes with an excellent brown French M 1892 frog (AC 244) as found which is modified for tropic use. Very rare and interesting frog modification.
The M 1890 Gendarmerie bayonet was adopted in 1894. Exactly the same bayonet was issued to Indochina in 1901 and was called the "M 1902 Indochina". This model was shortened in 1912 and issued to the Tirailleurs Indochinois and is called M 1902/12
An unmarked long version was also delivered in 1906 in a small number to Persia on a contract.
