During WWI, the Lebel M 1886-15 were made without a quillon. First examples were made with alloy-silver hilts. In October 1915 already the French Ministry allowed the use of brass for the hilts. This example was made before October 1915 when the production continued with brass made hilts. The total production of the M 1886-15 stopped at the end of the War.
Made during a very short periode, the Lebel M 1886-15 with alloy-silver grip is much more scarce than the same bayonet with a brass grip.
