French scholar bayonet, type M 1878 Kropatschek. Serial number 47 on crossguard. Very good bright finished plain tapered blade with no markings. Wonderful one piece straight brass hilt with wooden grip inlays, riveted to the hilt by two steel rivets. Brass pommel with T- mortise slot and working catch. Working blued external spring. Bright finished steel crossguard with forward swept quillon. Round final and reduced muzzle ring, like a captured and altered bayonet!. 
No scabbard.
