M 1874 Gras rifle. Serial number: R 74202 Matching! on crossguard. Superb T- back blade with French maker's name Mre. d" Armes de Tulle Aout 1876 (=Made at the Tulle Arsenal in August 1876) crisp on blade spine. Left ricasso is marked wit a large: 4. Excellent brass pommel and a bright polished crossguard with a forward swept quillon and a muzzle ring. MRD: 17.1 mm. Blued external spring shows pitting near the top only. Crossquard with a matching serial number. 2 very crisp French inspection markings on the left side of the qullion. The mortise slot shows what looks like a small unknown Regimental number: 3 J. 191 . Excellent wooden grips riveted to the blade tang.
Excellent blued matching scabbard with no dents.
