French M 1866 Chassepot bayonet by STEHELIN & Cie. a BITSCHWILLER THANN(ABCN1787)(K0)(JN0)

Chassepot M 1866 rifle. Serial nummer  X 15130 on crossguard. Perfect fullered bright yataghan blade marked with French makers name: Stehelin & Cie. a Bitschwiller - Tann 1869 on the blade spine. No inspection markings on the ricasso. Excellent brass grip with blued spring and 4943 on pommel. Bright finished crossguard with guillion and muzzle ring. MRD: 17,5 mm. There is a tiny little inspection marking on the left side of the quillion.
Beautiful deep blued metal scabbard with no dents, marked Z 175119 and another crossed out serial number R 9780

This French maker marked bayonet (Situated in the Alsac!) was made during two or three years only for the French government ( Cahen-Lyon contract) in a very limited number and are pretty scarce.
