AL X8E1 Experimental FAL rifle, 7.62 mm NATO. Serial number: X2 E1 9249 on the blade tang. Excellent bright finished shortened blade (17,3 cm) with large false edge and a reshaped point. First 3 cm. of the blade is blackened. Very nice wooden grips secured to the blade tang with screw bolts. Blackened pommel and catch with small ring. Crossguard and a muzzle ring with a 2 prongs flash hinder. MRD 15.5 mm. Excellent blackened scabbard with no dents. Scabbard throat is crisp marked: X1 E1.
Comes with an Excellent and correct FN FAL green webbing frog with a retaining strap.
Rare experimental bayonet. This particular example was shortened and its tip reshaped as a part of the trial and are less common than the long bladed bayonets.
These Belgium made bayonets were used for the Canadian, British and Australian X8E1 FAL trials in 1954.
