Australian used English M 1907 bayonet. First pattern with hook by SANDERSON. (ABCN1022)(K320)(JN3-1)
British Lee Enfield (SMLE) No.7 rifle. Australian serial number: 3 5 37 on the crossguard. First pattern MKI bayonet with hooked quillon and no oil hole in the pommel. Excellent bright finished blade. First 1,5 cm blackened. Ricasso is crisp marked with English makers name: SANDERSON and Crown over ER over 1907 and very crisp dated: 1'10. Three clear British (Enfield) inspection marks and /I\, X, on the reverse side of the ricasso. Excellent blued pommel fine marked N.S.W. (= New South Wales - Australia) with muzzle ring and hooked quillon. MRD 16,5 mm. Excellent+ walnut grips secured to the blade tang by screw bolts.
Very good+ early dark brown leather MKII scabbard. Leather body is marked H.G.R and /|\ Crown over Enfield inspection mark. Blackened fittings with Enfield inspection markings, 3 rivets and olive shape frog stud showing some fing peppering only. All stitches intact and no dents.

This particular Pattern 1907 MKI bayonet was made in England and issued to Australia before Australia started to produce their own bayonets in 1912 at The Small Arms Factory at Lithgow - N.S.W.
