English M 1907 bayonet by VICKERS. (ABCN1027-2)(K318)(JN57-3)
British Lee Enfield (SMLE) No.7 rifle. Second pattern bayonet. Excellent bright finished fullered blade. First 2 cm are blackened. Ricasso is crisp marked: Crown over G.R. over 1907 and date 9 '17 and with English makers name and trade mark: VICKERS and V in a circle. 4 Enfield inspection marks on reverse side of the ricasso: Crown over SC over E , Crown over LW over E and a /I\ and X. There is another issue date '19. Excellent walnut grips secured to the blade tang by to screw bolts. Excellent blued pommel and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 15.4 mm. Typical for Vickers: enlarged oil hole in pommel.
Excellent black leather scabbard with nicely blued top mount and chape. Both mounts are Enfield marked. Round teardrop frog stud and three rivets.
This bayonet was made by the famous machine gun manufacturer Vickers Ltd. at Crayford, England. It started the production of Po.7 bayonets mid 1917 and by the end of the production run, they had made =< 10.000 bayonets only. That makes this company the scarcest maker of M 1907 bayonets!
These Vickers made bayonets are pretty rare.
