English M 1907 bayonet by SANDERSON. Unit marked to the R.A.F. (ABCN1027)(K318)(JN57-3)
British Lee Enfield (SMLE) No.7 rifle. Second pattern. Excellent bright finished fullered blade. The ricasso is marked with the English makers name: SANDERSON and Crown- GR- 1907 - dated 10 '15
Many (6) Enfield inspection marks on reverse side of ricasso and two more issue dates: '18 and '23. Very good walnut grips. Bright finished pommel and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 16.5 mm. Oil hole in pommel. Pommel is unit marked: R. A. F. over 1.B over 7173 in 3 rows. The opposite is marked: 200 and the blade tang: A 800.
Excellent '17 dated black leather MKII scabbard. Blued mounts. Top mount with a round frog stud and three rivets. All stitches intact and no dents to the metal fittings.
It comes with a very good blue khaki M 1937 R.A.F. frog with no markings.
The Royal Air Force, the R.A.F., was founded on the first of May 1918. (See re-issue date '18 on the reverse side of the ricasso!)
