Egyptian M 1870/14 Modified Remington bayonet for Martini Enfield 303 rifle. Crossguard replaced. (ABCN1702)(K0)(JN39-3)
Egyptian Martini Enfield rifle .303. Police number: 293. Excellent bright finished fullered yataghan blade with German maker's trade mark: Crowned Kingshead (= Weyersberg-Solingen) on ricasso. Reverse side marked with a W in a circle. Excellent brass ribbed hilt with external spring fixed by a rivet. Right side of the pommel is numbered :293. Typical chamfered Remington slot. Crossguard is replaced by a very thick and massive one without a quillon. The muzzle ring is placed higher, has a smaller diameter. (MRD 16.5 mm).
Excellent and correct bright polished steel scabbard with no dents and no markings, only some user spurs. Throat is marked with two Arabic digits.
This is a very interesting modification of a Egyptian Remington M 1870 bayonet by replacing the total crossguard to fit the Egyptian Martini Enfield .303 rifle. This model is called M 1914 and was used by the Egyptian police.
