Norwegian M 1894 Krag-Jorgenson rifle. Serial number 1734 on ricasso. Minty symmetrical bright finished double edged blade with Swedish makers name: E. A. B (=Erik Anton Bergs, Fabriksaktiebolag, Eskilstuna ) on the ricasso. First 3 mm are blackened. Blued steel hilt with wood grips, secured to the blade tang by steel bolts. Blued crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 17.7 mm and quillon with forward swept finial. A press catch on the left side of the grip, above the crossguard to keep the bayonet in position. T-O slot in pommel. Matt black finished steel scabbard with a small circular frog stud and a finial. Central groove on both sides of the scabbard.
On August First 4.600 bayonets were made in Sweden in order of the Norwegian Government in exile to arm Norwegian troops and Gendarmerie who fled to Sweden during WWII.
On April 9, 1945 the first 1.000 were delivered with serial numbers 0001 - 1.000. The rest was delivered in September 1945 with serial numbers 1.001 - 4.600.
This is an extremely rare bayonet in a MINT condition.!!
