Imperial German (Prussian) M 1860 Fusilier bayonet by A.&.E. HOLLER-SOLINGEN . Unit marked: 3rd. See Battalion (ABCN1419)(K404)(JN77-3)
Imperial German (Prussian) M 1860 Dreyse Fusilier short rifle. Serial number: 500 on the grip back near the mortise slot. Excellent+ bright finished heavy pipe back blade. German maker's trademark: A. & E. HÖLLER - SOLINGEN on the ricasso and a capital script: G. (= Quality control mark: Gußstahl) Reverse side is marked: Crown over FW over 61 (= Prussia, King Frederic Wilhelm, dated 1861. and Crown over A inspection marking. Excellent- brass grip with 19 ribs on the right side and an external blued steel spring fixed by a screw on the left side. Blade tang with two very crisp inspection markings near the muzzle ring. Small dent to the right grip only.
Excellent bright finished steel crossguard with a forward swept quillon on top of the muzzle ring. MRD 21,3 mm and a backward swept quillon. Crossguard is unit marked: S. B. 3. ..5 (= 3rd. Company See Batallion, rifle 5.. Home base: Friederichsort near Kiel) and marked with another crisp Crown over W, 61, and Crown over A inspection mark facing the blade.
No scabbard.
Super rare bayonet unit marked a the German Marines Company! Many of the M 1860 fusilier bayonets were bushed later to 17. 2 mm and used with the M 1871 Jägerbuchse of the German artillery. This one still has the original MRD of 21.3 mm.!
