German M 1898/05 nA. bayonet by WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A.G. - OBERNDORF aN. Prussian Police property marked: Schutzpolizei Arnsberg district. (ABCN804-9)(K628)(JN86-1)

German Mauser M 1898 Rifle. Serial number: 668.  Second model M 98/05 bayonet (nA). Excellent blued fullered "Butcher" blade with crisp German makers name: WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A.G.- OBERNDORF a.N. in three lines on the ricasso. Blade spine is crisp marked with the Prussian Royal cypher: W and date; 16 and a crisp crowned  inspection mark. Very good- blued pommel and crossguard with "low Ears" and quillon. No seriues dents to the blued flash guard. Top  of the quillon has a Police rack number: 11. Very good ribbed walnut grips secured to the blade tang by two screw bolts. Oil hole in grip. T-O slot in pommel. Small chip missing on the right wooden grip. Gothic inspection marking on top of the pommel.
Excellent blued steel scabbard with a Police rack number: 14 on the throat rim.  A German (Prussian) Police property marking: S. Ar. II. 668 (= Schutzpolizei Arnsberg district, Unit II and weapon nbr. 668 ) under a crossed out German Police property marking: S. Ar. I. 11 (= Schutzpolizei Arnsberg district, Unit I and weapon nbr.11 )   

Police property  marks were only used between 1922 and 1937

Very interesting but well used Weimar Police (Arnsberg- (Prussia) marked Butcher in an VGC.
