German M 1884/98 bayonet, second model WWI by J.A.HENCKELS-ZWILLINGWERK-SOLINGEN. Unit marked. (ABC N 447)(JN81-2)(K 140)

Mauser M98 rifle. Superb bright finished fullered blade. German maker's name and trademark: Twins over J.A.HENCKELS over ZWILLINGWERKE crisp on the ricasso. Prussian W over date: 16 and crown over a Gothic inspection mark very crisp on the blade spine.
Excellent, somewhat stained, bright finished crossguard and pommel with T-O slot and a crown over a Gothic inspection marking. Crossguard is unit marked : 1.  48. (= First batallion, rifle 48)
Excellent wooden grips secured with screw bolts to the blade tang. Flash guard with a few small indentations and stains only.
Excellent blackened WWI scabbard with no dents
