German(Bavaria) modified M 1869 Werder bayonet by W.&.S. - Solingen. (ABCN1195-1)(K360)(JN13-4)

Werder M 1869 nM rifle. Serial number: 98890 on the left crossguard. Very good altered bright finished fullered graying blade. German maker's logo: W. &. S.  and SOLINGEN in a arch  (= Weyersberg & Stamm -SOLINGEN) on the ricasso. Massive brass grip with a T-slot showing lots of user spurs only.  Modified grip by filing the mortise slot down to the third rib. Excellent blued external spring. Modified quillon and crossguard. Muzzle ring with fastening screw. MRD 17.3 mm.
No scabbard. 

This is a very rare Bavarian M 1869 bayonet, altered in 1875 by making the blade lighter and modified again by grinding away a part of the mortise slot down, allowing the use of the bayonet model on the New model Werder M 1869 rifle and the M 1871 and the M 71/84 Mauser rifles.

These bayonets are quite rare.
