Belgian Mauser M 1889  rifle, rifle Cal. 7.65. Serial number: T 7295 Matching! on the left side of the crossguard. Excellent bright finished fullered mid length blade. (300 cm.) Tip of the blade shows some stains only. Belgium inspection marking:  JB under a crown in a trilob on the ricasso and V in a box inspection mark on the blade spine. Bright finished pommel and crossguard with forward swept guillon, marked V in a box. Catch with a V mark in a box. Right crossguard is marked:  E 2246 (= Home Guard District: E (= District Brussels). Muzzle ring MRD 17.5 mm. Excellent wooden grips secured by two screw bolts.

The prefix on the right crossguard stands for a Home Guard District. In this case: The E marking stands for District Brussels

This very rare mid-length version, with a blade length of 300 mm was used by the Belgian Home Guard (Civil Guard) only. Seldom encountered model!
