Belgian M 1889/35 Infantry short bayonet. (ABCN399-4)(K116)(JN17-2)
Belgian FN Mauser M 1935 Infantry carbine./ Bayonet model M 1889/35. Serial number: 9117 struck over an old serial number on crossguard. Very good blackened fullered blade. Blade shows light field sharpening only. Faint Belgian inspection markings on the ricasso. Excellent bright finished T-slotted pommel and crossguard with forward swept guillon. Crossguard is unusual marked above the muzzle ring and facing the blade: K (Karabijn?) 1530. Muzzle ring is bushed to MRD 15.5 mm. Excellent wooden grips secured by two screw bolts.
Very good well used black painted metal scabbard with hard to read serial number on the frog stud. No dents, but some area's of light to moderate pitting.
These were altered and arsenal refurbished M 1889 Infantry rifle bayonets. The muzzle ring is bushed to 15,5 mm to fit the FN Mauser M 1935 carbine. They saw intensively service by the Belgium colonial troops in the Belgium Congo in Afrika.
Rare colonial bayonet, not often found.
