Greek Hellenic Royal Navy Officers sword by Carl Eickhorn-Solingen.

Greek Hellenic Royal Navy officers sword, around 1934. Excellent plated long straight fullered blade, beautiful etched with a Man O' War, a crown over a fouled anchor and floral motives on the one side and a Naval steamer, a Royal Crown over a fouled anchor and floral motives on the reverse side. Blade back is also etched. There is some very little wear to the plating only mainly near the tip. Ricasso with the German makers trade mark of a sitting squirrel in two circles and CARL EICKHORN - SOLINGEN. (This trade mark was used only between 1933 and 1935). White felt washer intact.
Excellent gilt brass hilt with Lion head pommel, brass backpiece and grip covered with white ray skin and a complex brass wire winding. The ray skin cover shows a single spot of wear only. Ferule with a German style oak leave decoration. Closed gilt brass guard with a large crown over a fouled anchor and a small folding guard on the inside. The folding guard keeps the sword in the scabbard. 
Excellent black supple leather scabbard with a decorated gilt brass mouthpiece with a loose hanging ring, a decorated re positioned gilt brass middle band with another loose hanging ring and a decorated gilt brass chape with an arrow point shaped drag. The fittings are screwed to the leather scabbard body. All stitches are intact and there are no dents to the fittings.

The Royal Crown over a fouled anchor and the date of the used Eickhorn trademark indicates a Greek Hellenic Royal Navy officers sword. The time of the last Greek monarchy : 1935-1973.
